We’re excited to have launched our brand‑new Integration Norden website – with a clearer structure, a
more user‑friendly design, and easier access to what matters most. The website is available in English as well as in a shared
Scandinavian version, making it easier to explore and compare knowledge
across the Nordic countries
Visitors can
find facts, research, comparative Nordic data, networks and opportunities for
knowledge exchange – all in one place, supporting better‑informed integration
policies and practices across borders.
Curious?
Take a tour of the new site and see what we’ve built!

NEW REPORT: State of the Nordic Region – 2026: Diversity in the Nordic population by country of birth
Recently, Nordregio, one of the organisations under the Nordic Council of Ministers, published their biennial report on the status of the Nordic countries, entitled State of the Nordic Region – 2026. The report is particularly relevant for integration, as Chapter Four provides an overview of the demographic composition by country of birth across the Nordic region.
An important conclusion in the report is that the largest migrant group in the Nordic region consists of EU citizens with high employment rates, making labour migration an overall success story that contributes positively to both the labour market and public finances.

Interview with Ioannis Chatzopoulos: A shared Nordic vision is the foundation for successful integration
Integration policy should be a mutual process. Political scientist Ioannis Chatzopoulos advocates for a shared vision of integration that embraces diversity, supports equal opportunity, and empowers migrants to actively shape society rather than just adapt to it.
Ioannis Chatzopoulos
is a member of The Nordic Migrant Expert Forum 2025–2027. The Forum recently presented 14 targeted recommendations to enhance migrant integration across the Nordic countries within four key areas: framing and foundation, structural domains, social and relational domains, and transformative practice.
Integration Norden wants to help stakeholders in the Nordic countries in developing integration initiatives and policies and to work more closely together. The objective is to strengthen the possibilities for refugees and immigrants to become active members of society.
